Veterinarian Focuses on Exotic Pets

Dr Lucy Haile is from Bicester, England and she graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in London. She moved to Virginia in August 2016 to be with her husband, Alex.

Her first few months here were spent at the Wildlife Center of Virginia. She then joined Pender Exotics Veterinary Centre where she worked as an exotic animal veterinarian for the past year.

Lucy’s passions are exotic animal medicine and preventive care and she is keen to encourage wellness and routine visits for all your pets whether they are furred, feathered or scaled!

In her spare time Lucy continues to volunteer at the Wildlife Center of Virginia and helps run Operation Catnip; a charity for feral cats.

Testimonials from Exotic Pet Owners

  • Holy cow am I sold on this animal hospital for my aviary needs. I have never experienced such care, confident and skilled folks. The compassion shown is above any others I've been to. But I was truly at ease once the vet examined my little chicken and knew exactly what was wrong and exactly what procedure to perform. I can't thank them enough!

  • It was my first visit today for my new Senegal parrot and I love this office. I was really impressed with the kindness and professionalism of Dr. Allie and the entire staff. I know my bird is in great hands!

  • I took my injured cockatiel to Wellesley. They were very caring, talking with me on the phone and calling to follow up after he was seen. Would definitely recommend!

  • I took my daughter's Chinese Water Dragon in for a checkup and diagnosis. The entire staff had a friendly and caring attitude. Dr. Haile examined Michael and explained, in layman's language, what was wrong, what the treatment options were, and asked, not told, which treatment I wanted for Michael. One day later, Michael's appetite has returned, physical activity has increased, and she is bright and alert. My THANKS to the entire staff!

  • I have a sick ferret and I was unhappy with the diagnosis from a different vet. They took me in as an emergency during the day (our little guy didn’t look good at all! ). They were so professional and friendly and I immediately felt that I had made the right decision by bringing our little ferret to this new Doctor. She was amazing and so caring! I can’t say enough about this veterinary hospital.

  • I would give this place 6 stars if I could, I can't recommend this place enough. Between how competent the staff was in answering any question I had and the outpouring of care and support when one of my favorite pets was at the end of her life, I have never gone to a clinic that has been there for me like Wellesly has. Dr. Lucy and the amazing team of vet techs that helped me were a godsend and I can't thank them enough
